TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN RETHYMNO PREFECTURE, CRETE

During the first section of the study, a detailed delineation and evaluation of the current tourism model took place, followed by the assessment of the socio-economic and environmental impacts. Public and private funding was analysed in order to determine the main factors that affect it.

 

Consequently, by evaluating the current situation of tourism development (National & International), the comparative advantages-disadvantages of the area, the European tourism policies and the contemporary tourism products and services; the final policies and the program for the tourism development were formulated. The second section of the study was associated with the tourism investment plans and their feasibility potential. Preliminary studies were conducted in order to evaluate the feasibility of infrastructure investment plans.
