STUDY OF SPATIAL IMPACTS OF COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND POLICIES ON THE REGION OF WESTERN MACEDONIA

Phase-one of the study analyses and evaluates all the community programs and policies that affect the Region of Western Macedonia. All material & immaterial actions and programs concerning the Region between 1986 and 1996 were recorded. For each action or program the following characteristics were recorded:

  • Physical and Economic Object
  • Absorption Indexes
  • Course Indexes of the Physical Object
  • Involved Parties
  • Proposed or Extant Location

Consequently, the above data were sorted and codified into a Database. That database was used to create a G.I.S. that allows the economic and physical monitoring of projects on various scales of spatial distribution (Region-Regional Unit-Municipality).

Phase-two of the Study evaluates the developmental, environmental and spatial impacts of the Community Programs and Policies. Further analysis took place for projects funded by the E.U. in order to mitigate and in some cases eliminate impacts.
